Madrid 2012 Has Already More Than 25.000 Volunteers

A staggering 25.000 people have registered as volunteers of Madrid 2012 bid. The majority of the applications have been made through the Madrid 2012 website (http://www.madrid2012.es/), whereas 4.900 people have registered at the promotional bus that toured the city during the “Vuelta Ciclista a España” (the cycling tour of Spain), as part of the mobile advertising campaign.

The 25.000th volunteer has been a young man from Madrid called Guillermo Palacios, who is currently studying communication at the university, has defined himself as a sports supporter, especially in basketball.

This figure shows once again the huge support of the Spanish people to the Madrid 2012 bid, a 91% according to the sources of the International Olympic Committee.

In this period when less than 100 days are left until the IOC decides which city will host the 2012 Olympic Games, an increasing number of people are showing their altruistic support to the Spanish Capital’s dream, strengthening the candidacy day by day.
