Lucozade Sport this weekend kicks-off its ninth season as the official sport drink of the country’s football elite after concluding a new partnership agreement with the FA Premier League.

A permanent fixture in top flight dugouts since the Premier League was formed in 1992, Lucozade Sport was developed by leading nutritionists and sports scientists and is used by the game’s tops stars as a vital and scientifically proven source of energy and hydration.

The renewed partnership with the Premier League will see Lucozade Sport’s expert nutritionists working even more closely with Premier League coaches and club nutritionists. Their objective is to provide the best preparation and nutritional advice for both established and up and coming players and to ensure they derive maximum benefits from Lucozade Sport.

As appreciation of the importance of refuelling to cope with the physical demands of the game has grown Lucozade Sport has become an essential part of the game. This coming season FA Premier League and FAPL Academy players will consume an estimated 72,000 litres of Lucozade Sport. Official Opta statistics for last season show that 22% of goals were conceded in the last 15 minutes of games, demonstrating that maintaining energy and fluid levels right up to the final whistle is critical.

Fluid losses of as little as 2% of body weight have been shown to impair performance and it is not uncommon for a player to lose twice that in one game. Lucozade Sport is designed to make a difference in those dying ‘make or break’ moments when games are won or lost through provision of energy and fluid, fast.
