The Ice Hockey Superleague today gave its first indication of the interest shown in the Live Internet and Automated Results Service, introduced for the 2000/01 season.

The live service, which was designed to meet the needs of those who did not want to miss the match, just because they could not make it to the venue, has been a huge hit with fans. Media can also benefit from the system by accessing game details as they happen, through the detailed match analysis section.

Although it is acknowledged that web statistics are not to be used as a reliable measure of individual user utilisation, they can, however, show a trend of interest.

For the month of September 2000, the period when the live service was introduced, the number of page impressions increased by over 300% in comparison to the corresponding month in 1999.

The number of hits generated increased by a staggering 510% across the same period!

The Ice Hockey Superleague congratulates all involved, and would like in particularly to thank club operators for their time and assistance. The Superleague would also like to thank the public for their support of the new system, and the many helpful suggestions made to improve the functionality and presentation of the data on the website.

A programme of developments will be instigated over the coming weeks to improve the service over the course of the season.

So when you can’t make it to the match, simply log onto www.ICEweb.co.uk – Real Time Results @ Your Fingertips.
