KirchSport AG, the sports marketing arm of KirchMedia GmbH & Co. KGaA, announced today that it is extending its marketing agreement with the Deutscher Fussball-Bund (DFB) until the end of June 2004.
KirchSport, a new company that has been created through the integration of KirchMedia’s shareholdings in three leading international sports marketing companies – CWL, ISPR and Prisma Sports & Media – is now responsible for the management of the DFB’s marketing contract, which has been handled previously by the former CWL for almost twenty years.
The scope of the contract includes perimeter board advertising for all German national team matches – A Team, U21, U19, U17 and women – as well as marketing rights to the DFB Nutritional Pool.
This is a licensing programme covering all aspects of nutrition (foods and drinks), offering companies the use of the DFB logo as well as the title ‘Official Supplier of the German National Team and German Football Federation’.
The new contract also grants additional rights – covering all live broadcast DFB Cup matches for men and women – which means that KirchSport will now be marketing all live broadcast matches of the German Football Federation until 2004.
The deal, signed at Germany’s World Cup qualification match in Germany against the Ukraine, confirms that the long-standing and successful relationship between CWL and the DFB has been carried forward into KirchSport.
Günter Netzer, Executive Director of KirchSport, said: ‘We are delighted at the extension of our working relationship with the DFB. We now have to assess the re-packaging of the inventory to deliver an even more attractive and exciting football package to major sponsors in the German market – particularly in the all important build up to the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006’.
