London, England – Following the success of its inaugural event, the International Rugby Board has renewed its partnership with marketing specialists RedTorch for the second edition of the IRB World Rugby Conference and Exhibition (ConfEx), which will run from November 17-18 in London.
For its second year, the London-based marketing agency is responsible for the sales, marketing and delivery of ConfEx’s commercial programme.
ConfEx unites the leading figures and decision-makers from across Rugby and the wider world of sport and business, with the aim of growing the game globally. The 2014 event is the last gathering of the Rugby family ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2015 and Rugby Sevens’ inclusion in the Olympic Games. A significant entry in the international Rugby calendar, it will be marked by several major announcements, including the presentation of the new World Rugby brand.
IRB Chief Executive Brett Gosper said:
"This is a new era for Rugby. The 2014 ConfEx programme reflects the important issues impacting our sport right now and the event itself is the ideal opportunity to gather together the Rugby family. With RedTorch’s support, we look forward to hosting an event that helps to prepare our stakeholders for the journey ahead."
"The 2014 ConfEx couldn’t take place at a more appropriate time, just before the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics in Rio," said Jonny Murch, Managing Director, RedTorch. "Rugby is becoming increasingly global and we’re thrilled to assist in the delivery of a platform built to communicate this growth.
"This is an exciting time to be a part of the Rugby industry and we are delighted once again to be working with the IRB, assisting them in strengthening the connection with their stakeholders around the world."
A panel on Rugby World Cup – Past and Future has already been announced with a strong line-up of speakers confirmed to take part, including: Debbie Jevans, CEO, Rugby World Cup 2015; Steve Tew, CEO, New Zealand Rugby Union; Alan Gilpin, Head of Rugby World Cup Ltd; Akira Shimazu, Secretary General of Japan 2019; and Bill Beaumont, Chairman, RFU.
