International Tennis Hall of Fame awards
The International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI, announced several awards on Tuesday last week. The Samuel Hardy Award has been awarded to Dr Harry Marmion. This award is given annually to a USTA volunteer in recognition of long and outstanding service to the sport of tennis. Dr Marmion currently sits on the ITF Board of Directors, the Davis Cup Committee and he chairs the ITF Vets Committee. From 1997-98 he was President of the USTA. Other recipients of awards this year are Nick Bollettieri and Dr Ann Lebedeff. They have been awarded the 1999 Tennis Educational Merit Awards. These awards are given annually to one male and one female US citizen or resident having made notable contributions in the tennis education field at national level.
