The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, organization recognized by the IOC in 1954, the global governing body for the organization of Summer and Winter Deaflympics, has announced the bid for the 24rd Summer Deaflympics in 2021.
The 23rd Summer Deaflympics are being held in Samsun, Turkey in July 18-30th. The games count about 5,000 athletes, competing in 21 Summer sports (deaflympics2017.com) and about 5,000 delegates.
Deaflympics` host cities are chosen by the ICSD`s Board, acting on a recommendation of its President.
The number of athletes, support staff and delegates that shall be participating in the 24th Summer Deaflympics is capped at 6,000-10,000.
ICSD`s Lausanne headquarters are at the Maison du Sport International. The ICSD Representatives will be at the SportAccord Convention in Aarhus, Denmark in April 2017.
