Infront Sports & Media and the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB) have agreed to put in place a strategic co-operation for the organisation of the 2010 IIHF World Championship, which takes place in Germany.
 
This agreement has led to the establishment of a jointly owned and managed operating company based in Munich, Germany. The “DEB Eishockey-Sportgesellschaft mbH” is the legal entity for the organising committee for the event.

Franz Reindl, General Secretary of the DEB, has been appointed Managing Director of the new company. Its Board of Directors consists of DEB President Hans-Ulrich Esken, DEB Vice President Uwe Harnos and two Infront representatives, Bruno Marty, Executive Director Winter Sports and Christoph Mauer, Director Winter Sports.

Infront is the exclusive commercial partner of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and its premiere event, the IIHF World Championship, for television distribution, production and marketing until 2017.

The joint-venture between the company and the DEB will allow the practical, front-line experience of organising previous IIHF World Championships to be carried forward, to the benefit of the event. Similar arrangements were employed for the 2005 and the 2009 IIHF World Championship in Austria and Switzerland and proved highly beneficial.
 
DEB was appointed by IIHF at its annual congress in 2005 to host the 2010 IIHF World Championship in Germany.
