The 2000 IIHF Super Cup Game will be played on August 29, 2000 in Magnitogorsk, Russia. The decision was taken by the IIHF after consultation with the commercial partner, CWL Telesport AG and the qualified clubs. The IIHF Super Cup Game will be played between the 1999/2000 EHL Champions of Metallurg Magnitogorsk (Rus) and the 1999 Continental Cup Champions of HC Ambrý Piotta (Sui). The game will be a rematch of the 1999 Super Cup, as both clubs managed to reconfirm their title in the international competitions. Ambrý won the 1999 edition in front of their home crowd on August 31, 1999, a 2-0 shutout over Metallurg, resulting in the first Continental Cup champion to win the IIHF Super Cup. The starting time of the IIHF Super Cup Game has been scheduled for 19.30 h local time, 15.30 h CET. This will be the fourth time the IIHF Super Cup will be played. TPS Turku (Fin) won 3-2 over Lada Togliatti (Rus) in the inaugural edition in 1997, VEU Feldkirch (Aut) beat HC Kosice (Svk) 4-0 in 1998.
