IEC in Sports is delighted to announce a new partnership with FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) whereby IEC will be responsible for the TV co-ordination and distribution of the 2002 FIVB World Grand Prix played in Asia this summer.
Under the terms of the agreement, IEC will distribute the event worldwide outside of Brazil and the Host Countries. IEC will also look after the TV co-ordination of the event, liasing with Host Broadcasters and supervising the overall international TV production.
The event is considered to be volleyball’s premier women’s annual tournament with a prize fund of over US$1 million.

‘As FIVB is the largest sports organisation in the world with 33 million licensed players and 217 affiliated National Federations, FIVB is very happy to increase the world wide exposure of Women’s Volleyball thanks to the professional collaboration with IEC, said Gabrielle van Zwieten, Head of Project World Grand Prix’.
The 2002 event will feature Sydney 2000 Olympic Games gold, silver and bronze medallists Cuba, Russia and Brazil, 2001 World Grand Champions Cup winner China, defending World Grand Prix champion USA, as well as Thailand, Japan and Germany in the eight-team competition.
China, Japan, Thailand, Macau, Philippines and Taipei will host preliminary legs of the event, which will be held over a four weekend period from 12 July to the 4 August 2002. The four-team finals series will be held in Hong Kong on the final weekend.
Last year’s thrilling Final saw China take on USA, with the American team triumphing 3-1 in an amazing match played in Macau.
