Rudolf Baumann, President of the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF), reports that with the support of the IDSF Membership Commission, the IDSF DanceSport organization in Cameroon (West Central Africa), the “Federation Camerounaise de Danses Sportives et Assimilées (FECADANSA)”, has recently received Full Recognition as sole representative and governing body for DanceSport in Cameroon from the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSC).
The “Federation Camerounaise de Danses Sportives et Assimilées” has been a member of IDSF since January 1, 2002 and represents the DanceSport Athletes of Cameroon.
DanceSport federations in 57 out of 84 countries represented in IDSF are now recognised by their own National Olympic Committees.
In 1997 IDSF received Full Recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the sole worldwide representative body for DanceSport.
IDSF is member of:
· the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF),
· the Association of Recognized IOC International Sports Federations (ARISF),and
· the International World Games Association (IWGA).
Since 1997 IDSF’s DanceSport athletes have competed in a full program of quadrennial medal competitions at IWGA World Games, under the patronage of the IOC, and will compete in this year’s 2005 World Games in Duisburg, Germany.
