The International Badminton Federation (IBF) is pleased to announce the launch of a new online merchandising arm to its website at www.worldbadminton.net
IBF’s previous online retail partner, Sportsetail – whose clients also included Manchester United and the English Football Association – went into administration earlier this year, but through its new website, powered by technology partner Sportcal.net, IBF has welcomed the launch of a new online merchandising function, fully integrated into the Federation’s official site.
The new IBF shop will focus initially on a limited number of exclusive yet high-demand product lines, such as highlights DVDs from the QI IBF World Championships and 2003 Sudirman Cup and the 2002 Thomas & Uber Cup Finals, plus a Badminton Interactive CD-Rom and Physical Training for Badminton Book – all of which can be purchased easily through the site using a secure online credit card payment facility.
The new IBF shop has made a promising start, registering over 100 sales in just its first week of operation.
”We are delighted to launch this service where top quality product such as our event DVDs can be purchased,’ said IBF Director of Marketing & Development, Andrew Ryan.
‘This is really important for badminton as there are still countries where IBF’s top competitions are not shown on TV so the effective distribution of the latest events in DVD format is an important service to fans around the world.’
‘We are delighted with the response to the online merchandising section of the IBF site,’ added Mike Laflin, Chief Executive of IBF’s technology partner Sportcal.net.
‘It clearly demonstrates that with a good web site and the right products International Federations can generate revenues through their websites.’
