The Board of Directors of Super League (Europe) Limited have announced that Ian Robson has been confirmed as the organisation’s Chief Executive.
Robson, 39, has been filling the role in an acting capacity since November 1999. Prior to this, he was Marketing Director
Ian Robson was Chief Executive of the Auckland Warriors club from 1992 until the early part of 1997. He was then appointed General Manager Marketing with Super League (Australia) before joining Super League (Europe) Limited in February 1998.
Commenting on his appointment Ian Robson said,
‘I am delighted to be appointed Chief Executive and look forward to working with our member clubs to continue the successful development of the Tetley’s Bitter Super League competition on and off the field.’
Super League (Europe) Limited Chairman Chris Caisley commented,
‘The Board welcomes Ian Robson’s appointment and the news comes at a time when the Tetley’s Bitter Super League is going from strength to strength.
‘The weekly average match attendance is currently showing a solid increase on last year. The present figure is 7,730 which is a 23 per cent increase on the 1999 Regular season.’
Caisley added, ‘Our programme of Easter matches kicks-off tomorrow with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats versus Castleford Tigers and I’m sure all fans will relish the feast of thrilling action on offer over the holidays.’
