Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson announced today that she has signed a long-term representation agreement with the international management company, IMG.

Sophie finished first on the 2000 Ladies European Tour Order of Merit, winning the Weetabix Women’s British Open, the Irish Open and the Italian Open. She had a strong start to the 2001 season winning the AAMI Women’s Australian Open in March.

Sophie, who has played an integral role in the last two Solheim Cup Teams in 1998 and 2000, is delighted to join IMG and is looking forward to defending her Weetabix British Women’s Open crown in August, especially now that it has, for the first time, been awarded ‘major status.’

‘This is an important season for me, to build on my successes of 2000. With IMG now looking after all aspects of my career, I feel more able to focus solely on playing great golf.’

Vicky Cuming, who will be heading up Sophie’s IMG management team, is delighted that Sophie has chosen IMG over other interested parties. ‘Sophie has established herself as one of the best players in the world, with wins on three continents. She splits her time between the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour, which is where IMG’s world-wide presence really benefits her. She is a fantastic addition to our stable of players and we are delighted to be working with her.’
