Bonn, Germany – The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced today the extension of the partnership with imagery company Getty Images. Getty Images will become the ‘Official Photography Partner of the IPC’ and in return, the IPC will be able to use all sport related images for ‘below-the-line’ communication purposes, eg, for the IPC website, presentations, posters and publications.

Said Miriam Wilkens, IPC Media and Communication Director: “We are particularly pleased with the extension of this partnership as Getty Images’ spectacular photos of Paralympic Sport will help to further promote the achievements of Paralympic athletes, allowing Paralympians to inspire people with and without a disability around the world.”

In 2004, the IPC for the first time partnered with international imagery company Getty Images to use all wholly owned images from the ATHENS 2004 Paralympic Games for below-the-line communication purposes. Since then, those images have enhanced the IPC website, various IPC publications and delivered marvellous insight to Paralympic sport and its athletes.

“I am delighted that once again Getty Images’ photographers are poised to capture the defining moments from such an important sports event. Their dynamic and original perspective gained over the years from their exceptional experience will ensure that these images will stay in memory for years to come. Serving as the photographic partner to the International Paralympic Committee, we are confident that we will be able to continue to provide iconic imagery from this major sporting event, ” said Lee Martin, Vice President, Sales, Getty Images.
