FRANCE SETS STYLISH STANDARD FOR FIRST 2005 WORLD CUP
Breakfast and chandeliers at Fouquet’s in Paris on a sunny morning is about as ritzy as it gets. This was the venue chosen today to formally announce the first Stop of the 2005 Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup. Mayor Philippe Sueur of Enghien-les-Bains met the Press to announce the details with Kuno Ritschard, President of the International Waterski Federation. 
Twenty eight Wakeboard Riders from twelve countries will head for the perfect spa waters of Enghien-les-Bain next weekend, June 18/19. All the action will take place in front of the Groupe Lucien Barriere Hotel at the tented village beside the Casino. The Wakeboard Riders will include the 2004 World Cup Champion, Daniel Watkins (AUS), the current IWSF World Champions Robi Rendo (ARG) and Phillip Soven (USA), Chen LiLi (CHINA) the winner of the 2004 Singapore Stop, and French star Rider, Xavier Bonnet. This perfect location gives the public a spectacular waterfront setting where they can get within a few meters of the Riders during the event.
In partnership with Enghien-les-Bains, this first Stop of the World Cup will be sponsored by MasterCraft, Sport+, Europe2, Caisse d’Epargne, Groupe Lucien Barriere and Perles de Tahiti. The action packed programme will feature two days of spectacular competition plus a Babyboard Academy where children aged between 4-10 will receive free tuition on both Saturday and Sunday from Patrice Martin, France’s greatest ever Waterskier. This innovation was highly successful in Doha in Qatar last December where 180 children took part and received certificates. Also on the programme are a Tahitian Concert, Laser Show and Fireworks. The public will be offered a chance to win a holiday for two in Tahiti as they enjoy the wines, cheese and a variety of French specialities in the colorful tented village. 
Last year, over 20,000 spectators crowded the Enghien-les-Bains lakefront tented village and even larger crowds are expected next weekend. With eight cities already bidding to host World Cup Stops in 2006, this is a unique way for each to show its waterfront tourism investment and developments to the World at large. Enghien-les-Bains is just 12km from the Eiffel Tower and will be the centre of attention next weekend for the World’s 30 million active Waterskiers and Wakeboard Riders.
