FOX SPORTS LATIN AMERICA PRESS RELEASE FOX SPORTS LATIN AMERICA DELIVERS EXCLUSIVE LIVE COVERAGE OF CHILEAN FUTBOL PLAYOFFS TO SPANISH-SPEAKING LATIN AMERICA LOS ANGELES, October 8, 1999 – FOX Sports Latin America, the most widely distributed Spanish-language pay television sports network in the world, announced that it will telecast the Chilean futbol playoffs, live and exclusive, to all Spanish-speaking Latin America. The first of the 14 playoff games will air on Sunday, October 10, 1999, with the playoffs concluding on December 16, 1999. The three highest ranked teams at the end of the Chilean National Championship playoffs will qualify for the prestigious Libertadores Cup. The top eight teams of the regular Chilean futbol season qualify for the playoffs. This year the qualifying teams vying for the Championship title and an opportunity to qualify for the Libertadores Cup are: U. Cat¾lica, U. de Chile, Colo Colo, Cobreloa, S. Morning, Palestino, Huachipato and A. Italiano. The playoffs are comprised of two rounds, each consisting of seven games. The teams ending the playoff tournament with the most accumulated points will become the champion and runner-up of the tournament. The Chilean Futbol League features stars including NÚstor Gorosito, Sebastißn Rozenthal, Hugo Brizuela, Jorge Vargas, Nelson Tapia, Nelson ParraguÚz (Universidad Cat¾lica), Estaban Valencia, Leonardo RodrÝguez, Sergio Vargas, Pedro Gonzßlez, Pablo Galdamez, Clarence Acu±a, (Universidad de Chile); Marcelo RamÝrez, JosÚ Luis Sierra, Cristißn Montecino, Fernando Vergara, Marcelo Barticotto, Juan Carlos Gonzßlez (Colo Colo), among others. FOX Sports Latin America’s current roster of futbol coverage includes leagues from Argentina, Chile, England, Germany and Mexico, among others.
