New Sports News Program to air throughout US, Mexico and the Northern Cone

MEXICO CITY, September 20, 2000 – FOX Sports Latin America, the most widely distributed Spanish-language pay television sports network in the world, and FOX Sports World Español, the only 24-hour Spanish-language sports network in the United States, announce the launch of ‘FOX Sports Noticias’ from Mexico. This new edition of the networks’ signature nightly sports news program is tailored specifically for sports fans in Mexico, the United States and the Northern Cone of Latin America. Starting October 2 and continuing every night thereafter, Spanish-speaking viewers throughout the U.S. and Latin America will be able to tune in directly from the FOX Sports studios in Mexico City LIVE at 11:00 p.m. Mexico time (12:00 a.m. Eastern). The original FOX Sports Noticias program from Argentina will continue to air nightly throughout the U.S. and the Southern Cone of Latin America.

Since its launch in 1997, FOX Sports Noticias has developed a strong following across the Americas by covering a wide range of sports, from world class fútbol, tennis, golf, rugby and basketball to Major League Baseball and the NFL. FOX Sports Noticias has brought audiences up-to-the-minute sports news from around the world, including scores, highlights, player transfers, team positioning and much more.

FOX Sports Noticias from Mexico will continue this tradition of providing sports fans throughout the U.S. and Latin America with in-depth sports reporting. Coverage of local sports news in Mexico and the Northern Cone will complement exclusive interviews with high-profile sports personalities. The program will feature as its hosts distinguished Mexican journalists Mara Almada and Rubén Espejel from Monday through Friday and Gustavo Bautista and Jorge Murrieta on weekends.

‘We’re proud to give our viewers from Mexico and the Northern Cone a daily live sports news program that speaks to their specific interests,’ said David Sternberg, General Manager of FOX Sports Latin America and Vice President of Business Development for FOX Sports International. ‘It is all part of our strategy to bring audiences the best of local, regional and international sports programming.’

‘We recognize the need to fill the current void of year-round Spanish-language sports programming to the diverse Spanish-speaking population in the United States,’ said Larry Gillman, General Manager of FOX Sports World Español. ‘FOX Sports Noticias from Mexico will strengthen the bond we have created with sports fans in the US through our continuous efforts to produce quality sports entertainment.’
