Paris, 28 June 2004 – Paris 2012, the organization behind Paris’ Bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, announced today that five renowned international Olympic experts have joined its technical team.

Their combined expertise in some of the key areas examined by the International Olympic Committee, such as security, venues, infrastructure and transport, sustainable development and finance, significantly reinforces Paris 2012’s ability to deliver a strong Candidature File on the 15th of November 2004.

The international Olympic specialists who have joined Paris 2012 include:

  • David Churches, Senior Technical Advisor, who will review all technical aspects of the Paris candidature, and assist in presenting these proposals to the Olympic Movement;
  • David Desmarchelier, Senior Olympic Security Advisor, who will be responsible for assisting the Bid team in developing a plan that merges France’s exceptional security capabilities with the cluster concepts Paris 2012 developed to ensure the highest level of security and safety for the Olympic family, athletes and spectators alike.
  • Julius de Heer, Senior Environment & Sustainable Development Advisor, who will take charge of enhancing further sustainable development as a major component of the Candidature File.
  • Brett Hopkins, Senior Financial Advisor, who will assist the Bid team in developing the financial plans and budget; and
  • Mike Loynd, Senior Operational Advisor, who will provide organizational, operational and architectural advice on the competition venues and clusters.
