Acapulco (Mexico), January 27, 2004 – The process towards the final reintegration of Argentina in the International Volleyball Federation advanced another step Tuesday in Acapulco.

The FIVB Board of Administration gave its green light to the affiliation of the new association to be named Federation of Volleyball in Argentina (FeVA), whose legal personality has been certified by official communication
of the Ministry of Justice of the Province of Buenos Aires.

The still provisional affiliation of FeVA needs to be ratified by the FIVB World Congress in May in Porto (Portugal). It will replace the former FAV (Volleyball Federation of Argentina), suspended last year for non-respect of the Constitution, Code of Conduct, regulations, and decisions of the FIVB. Its expulsion has been requested by the Board of Administration, an expulsion that has to be ratified by the Congress.

A working group put in place by the International Federation, with the support of the Argentinean Olympic Committee and the provincial Argentinean associations finally led to the creation of the FeVA and guaranteed the
participation of men’s and women’s Argentinean players in the international competitions. Consequently, the men’s team was able to qualify for the Olympic Games in Athens, and the women’s team will have the opportunity to do so on the occasion of the final Olympic qualification tournament in May in Tokyo.
