FIH Approves England Hockey As Official Member

The FIH Executive Board approved England Hockey’s request to become an official member of the FIH, ahead of England Hockey’s Inaugural General Meeting on Sunday 18 May 2003.

England Hockey replaces the English Hockey Association (EHA), which ran into financial difficulties and suspended operations in May 2002. In December 2002 the FIH Congress agreed to empower its Executive Board to handle the issues concerning the transition of governance for hockey in England.

Peter Cohen, Hon Secretary General commented, ‘There has been good co-operation between the representatives of the body in England and the representatives of the FIH throughout this process of change. This has resulted in the positive decision made by the Executive Board. We are very happy with this outcome, and wish England Hockey success.’
