FIFA has signed a contract with Turin-based Delta Tre Informatica. Under this agreement, the Italian company, which specialises in sports data services, will provide a comprehensive results system for the final tournaments of all FIFA events between 2003 and 2006. This system will have
a variety of uses, including TV graphics, commentator monitor systems, data services for the FIFA websites, printouts for media and other matters, and an extranet application for FIFA employees and partners.
While this partnership with Delta Tre will exploit a whole range of synergies, FIFA’s events (including the 2006 FIFA World Cup(tm)) will also benefit with an instantly recognisable, consistent image. Delta Tre will use FIFA’s comprehensive competitions database as the foundation stone for its data services.
FIFA General Secretary Urs Linsi regards this agreement as a further step towards making the organisation and presentation of FIFA events more professional. ‘For the media and spectators, data and statistics are the be-all and end-all in sport. A professional service, such as the one that Delta Tre will provide using FIFA’s existing database, is crucial to each and every aspect of a FIFA tournament. What is more, the consistent outward
appearance of our events will ensure that they are instantly recognisable – something that will also strengthen FIFA’s corporate identity.’
Delta Tre worked with world football’s governing body during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan(tm) and can look back upon many years of experience in the world of international football.
