Four new members elected and one incumbent re-elected.
The European Sponsorship Association (ESA), the membership body that seeks to inspire, unite and grow the sponsorship industry, held its AGM yesterday (Wednesday 5th July) with the main order of business being the election of new members to its 15-person Board of Directors.
Five Board Directors were appointed at the AGM. William Fenton (Sponsorship Ideas, in Belgium) was re-elected, while Bob Mitchell (Harbottle & Lewis LLP), Joel Seymour-Hyde (Octagon), Katie Traxton (WeAreFearless) and Stuart Wareman (Marriott International) were newly elected and will sit on the ESA Board with immediate effect.
Nigel Geach, Acting Chairman of ESA, said “We’re pleased to have one re-elected and four new Board Members on the ESA Board. Their skills will be of great benefit to ESA and will help support our new strategic version to inspire, unite and grow the sponsorship industry for the benefit of its members, and I look forward to working with them.”
Three current ESA Board Members stepped down during the AGM – Karen Earl of Karen Earl Mentoring, Nick Johnson of Osborne Clarke and Ben Wells of Well Said UK. Thank you to Nick Johnson, who has been involved with ESA for many years, helping guide us in all legal aspects and Ben Wells, who has been an intrinsic part of ESA, leading its marketing and social media strategy. Our very special thanks goes to Karen Earl, who has been involved with ESA since 1990 and Chairman for the past 10 years. ESA has grown and flourished under Karen's generous leadership and dedicated example, and we would like to thank her for all her exceptional hard work and vision, particularly in establishing and encouraging ESA's industry standard qualifications.
The ESA Board is concentrating on moving its new strategic vision forward to ensure it builds on its position to represent the sponsorship industry, and provide its members with benefits that they will value and utilise.
