Television viewers in countries in four continents will be able to enjoy coverage of the 28th European Athletics Indoor Championships which take place in Madrid on 4-6 March 2005.



Nine non-European channels – Fox Australia, SKY New Zealand, ESPN Star Asia, TBS Japan, DD Sports India, Vietnam TV, Dubai Sports Channel, Carribean TV and US network – all plan to broadcast 55 minutes of highlights from the Championships.

In Europe over 20 television channels have expressed their intention to broadcast the event. Eurosport intends to broadcast 12 hours of live action on each of its six channels and RTR Sport in Russia plans ten hours of live coverage. Viewers of channels including the BBC in the UK, France 2/France 3, ARD in Germany as well as the host broadcaster TVE in Spain will also be able to enjoy the event live.

With the majority of countries set to announce their teams for Madrid next week, four Olympic Champions from Athens are already on the start lists: Stefan Holm (high jump) and Carolina Klüft (pentathlon) from Sweden, Roman Šebrle (heptathlon) from the Czech Republic and Yelena Isinbayeva (pole vault) from Russia. Around 600 athletes from 43 countries will compete at the Championships.
