ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) today announced the appointment of Bob Kemp as Vice President, Production. Kemp reports directly to newly appointed Managing Director, Rik Dovey. Kemp has had more than 30 years of TV experience, including nine years in the cable and satellite sports broadcasting industry.

Kemp comes to ESS from the Sydney Olympic Broadcasting Organisation where he was the Deputy Head of Production, responsible for the host broadcast programming of the ‘best Olympic Games ever’. He was also the Co-ordinating Producer for several of the sports, including the Athletics coverage.

Prior to this project, Kemp was the General Manager, Programming and Production for the Australian cable delivered sports provider, SportsVision, part-owned by ESPN.

This new appointment in Asia marks Kemp’s return to the region; he is now based in Singapore. Kemp was previously the Director of Production, Special Projects for STAR Sports in 1994/95. During this exciting time, he was responsible for several major projects including the first live broadcast of golf from China with the 1995 China Open event in Beijing.

Prior to joining STAR Sports, Kemp worked as Head of Production for Eurosport and then SKY Sports in London, helping to set them up prior to their commencing transmission in 1989 and 1990 respectively. He has a recognised expertise in the satellite and cable industry, having been responsible for the introduction of the first simultaneous multi-lingual transmission of sports programming on Eurosport.

Kemp started his career in Adelaide as a Lighting Director for the local NINE Network station, before spending 20 years with Network TEN in Melbourne, where he specialised in the production of major projects for the Network.
