ESPN International has acquired a package of more than fifty 2002 World Cup qualifying matches from the European Group, featuring several of the world’s top national teams, including England, Italy, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Norway, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Denmark and Portugal.

All of ESPN International’s World Cup qualifiers will be aired on ESPN in Latin America and ESPN PacRim. ESPN Atlantic, which services the Middle East and Africa, will telecast all of the qualifiers, except those matches involving Germany and England.

ESPN International’s first telecast day of the 2002 World Cup qualifiers is Saturday, September 2, 2000 when three matches will be aired in their entirety: Germany vs. Greece, Ukraine vs. Poland and Iceland vs. Denmark. The highlight of ESPN’s package are two England-Germany matches: on Saturday, October 7, 2000 at Wembley Stadium in London, England and on Saturday, September 1, 2001 in Germany.

ESPN International’s programming line-up of premier football from around the world includes 2000 European Championship, UEFA Champions League, Spanish First Division, Spanish Copa del Rey, Italian Serie A, Argentine Torneos de Verano, Scottish Premiere League, Major League Soccer, and European Championship and World Cup qualifiers.
