ESPN Classic Sport, a new network dedicated to showcasing the greatest moments in sports history, will make its European debut today in France on CanalSatellite and TPS, France’s direct-to-home satellite TV systems. Roch
Pellerin, managing director, ESPN Classic Sport, today revealed details of the network’s launch, including plans to showcase a rich library of remarkable sporting events such as French Championship Football, the Summer
and Winter Olympics, Roland Garros, and the Tour de France, among others.
‘We are proud to debut ESPN Classic Sport in France,’ said Pellerin. ‘The history of French sport is filled with unforgettable moments that viewers will look forward to revisiting or witnessing for the very first time.’
ESPN Classic Sport will offer a compelling mix of international and French sports that is tailored to the interests of French sports fans. The programming will consist of full-length matches, event highlights, and
produced retrospective programs. ESPN Classic Sport will be presented in French. CanalSatellite and TPS will televise ESPN Classic Sport 24 hours a day to approximately three million subscribers throughout the country.
ESPN Classic Sport is 70 percent owned by ESPN, Inc. and 30 percent owned by Sports Capital Partners. TWI, the largest independent producer, packager, and distributor of sports programming in the world, also plays a principal role in ESPN Classic Sport by providing a variety of support services to the venture, including production and facilities.
