The European Sponsorship Association (ESA) has launched its 2013 Professional Development Award to recognise and congratulate companies who are most committed to developing best practice through investment in staff training and career development.

The Award sits within the ESA Excellence Awards and is being supported by f1 recruitment. The Award focuses on HR strategy and the implementation of both internal and external training and educational programmes.

Open to all ESA members, the Award’s criteria differentiates those businesses that are privately owned from those which form part of a wider group of companies.

Karen Earl, ESA Chairman said: “Commitment to education and training starts at the top and so every business who shares this aim, no matter what the size, should enter.

“We know that for smaller companies, much training is done on the job and includes work shadowing, mentoring and role-playing – all vital to staff development and not requiring large training budgets”.

Amanda Fone, Managing Partner of f1 recruitment, added: “We are delighted to be supporting this award as ESA’s aims mirror our commitment to helping to raise standards in the sponsorship industry. We encourage continual professional development at all career levels and are also an advocate of the popular ESA Diploma which provides a fantastic 360 learning about sponsorship”.

To support the criteria highlighted within the Award entry form, ESA has produced a new publication – the ESA Guide to Professional Development, using Education and Training effectively. It provides useful advice to assist managers when implementing or refining their training and education programme.

Both the Awards entry form and complementary guide are accessible via the ESA Excellence Awards web section. The Award’s entry deadline is on the 4th December 2013 and the shortlist will be announced on the 19th December.
