England 2018 will promote their bid to host the World Cup at the Soccerex Global Convention in South Africa later this month to bring the total of rival bidders taking a presence in Johannesburg to six, over half of those competing to stage the event.
The England team will fly to the South African capital to set out their wares before football heavyweights like Sepp Blatter, Jack Warner, Franz Beckenbauer, Ricardo Terra Teixeira and Rafael Salguero, all of whom are part of the FIFA Executive Committee which ultimately decides which World Cup bid will be victorious.
England join Russia, Japan, Australia, Holland and Belgium and Qatar at Soccerex, the industry convention regarded as the global leader in the business of football. The England 2018 Board has just been restructured. One new recruit is the former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, a Soccerex regular who is due to join Gerard Houllier and Sven Goran Eriksson at this year’s conference. The 2018 team see Soccerex as the venue to detail the changes in their organisation and outline their plans for the future. Lord Triesman, the Chairman of the FA and 2018 said, “We’ve got to a point where the England 2018 campaign requires focus, determination and where everybody involved has a specific purpose to help us win the bid”
This year’s eagerly anticipated convention offers World Cup bidding nations the perfect occasion to market their bids in front of key members of the FIFA Executive Committee, leaders of the wider football fraternity, global media and thousands of football industry delegates.
