EMPICS, the sports photo marketing company, has appointed David Williams as business development director. Williams will further develop the company’s rights management business, and in particular he will capitalise on interest
in its innovative NMSP (New Media Stills Production) technology.
Williams joins EMPICS from TWI, New York, where he was commercial and operations director in the TV division. In his eight years at TWI, he also worked in London as commercial executive and account director in the new
media division. In this role, he managed high-profile accounts such as the IOC (International Olympic Committee), the All-England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon) and the PGA European Tour.
‘I am delighted to join EMPICS at this exciting time,’ said Williams. ‘It has great relationships with sports right holders and the media, and I’m keen to develop these further and in particular to work with the NMSP technology.’
The NMSP system provides sports photos from live events to websites and mobile phones in as little as twenty seconds. Developed over the last two years, it has been successfully tested at FA Premier League and UEFA Champions League matches, as well as leading golf, cricket and horse racing events.
‘David has proven experience and the skills needed to manage accounts at the highest level, not to mention excellent contacts in the sports world,’ said Phil O’Brien, chief executive of EMPICS. ‘He will be able to make a substantial contribution to developing our company further.’
