Acapulco (Mexico), January 26, 2004 – The FIVB Board of Administration considered in Acapulco that East Timor presently fulfilled all the conditions for its affiliation to the governing body of Volleyball worldwide. The final decision will be made on the occasion of the FIVB Congress next May in Portugal, which will thus welcome the 218th country or territory of the world’s largest sports organisation.

Furthermore, the FIVB Board Members will recommend to the Congress the reinstatement of Iraq in the Asian Confederation (AVC), which will also incorporate East Timor.
