The Local Organising Committee of the European Championships in Athletics 2006 in Gothenburg signed its first official sponsor agreement.

Vattenfall, Europe’s 5th biggest energy company, will via the association to one of Europe’s biggest sporting events strengthen its position in many important markets.

‘The European Championships in Athletics 2006 is our most important event and we welcome such a competent and experienced sponsor as Vattenfall’, says Hansjörg Wirz, President of the EAA.

‘This is the biggest event in Sweden since 1995 and it reaches a wide international audience. We are looking for a partner that together with Gothenburg sees the possibilities with the event. Vattenfall is representing this’, says Claes Bjerkne, M.D. at Göteborg & Co and member of the organising committee of the European Championships in Athletics 2006.

Vattenfall will as sponsor contribute to the success of the EC 2006. Vattenfall encompass an extensive operation and many employees not only in Sweden but also in Germany, Poland and Finland, which all are big sporting nations.
