LAUSANNE, Switzerland, 22 June – SportAccord Convention is delighted to announce the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award (MBRawards) Gold Partnership for #SAC2017.

Celebrating a key milestone, the 15th edition of the SportAccord Convention will take place next year from 2-7 April at the Scandinavian Congress Center in the heart of Aarhus, Denmark. As active members in the world of sport, both Dubai and Denmark host a wide variety of major international sporting events and sports congresses each year.

On becoming a Gold Partner for the next SportAccord Convention, Mr Saeed Hareb, Secretary General, Dubai Sports Council the official sport governing body for Dubai commented, “The SportAccord Convention is a global platform to represent and promote Dubai as one of the best global hubs for sports innovation, leadership and excellence in the field of sports and sport business. Becoming a Gold Partner of SportAccord Convention is part of Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award strategy in helping to showcase Dubai and achieve our goals.”

A recent article by the Wall Street Journal (April 2016) has shown how Dubai went from “desert village to global player” in record time, in a bid to become the smartest and most sustainable city. Supported by dynamic leaders with a vision for greatness and a serious effort to modernise, innovation is at the heart of Dubai’s MNC and SME community.

Held in a different city every year, the annual SportAccord Convention is a unique opportunity for key decision-makers from sport and industry to meet, network, and strategically shape global, regional and national agendas. An exclusive 6-day event, the Convention is host to annual general meetings of governing bodies, and once again, will welcome a delegation from the International Olympic Committee.

With plans well underway for the next SportAccord Convention and registration due to open at the end of June, Managing Director, Mr Nis Hatt commented:

“We are delighted the Dubai Sports Council has become a Gold Partner for the SportAccord Convention. This level of support demonstrates its commitment to the world of sport. Dubai provides significant opportunities for everyone involved in the business of sport or looking to host sports events, and the SportAccord Convention provides the right platform to help make this happen.” Mr Hatt went on to say, “With a limited number of partnerships available this year, I would encourage organisations to begin discussions early.”

The Convention comprises a 3-day exhibition represented by more than 25 industry sectors, sport organisations, government offices, cities, event services, media, and many more. As part of the Official Schedule, the Convention also hosts a plenary conference, City Forum, LawAccord and MediaAccord, as well as a Social and Cultural Programme and Sports Demo Zone.
