When the Ice Hockey World Championships kick off in May next year, it will be with DB Schenker as logistics partner at their side. In addition to being in charge of logistics, the company will, among other things, provide a media centre, a media tribune and a press centre, jointly referred to as the OB Compound, in Royal Area, which can be used for broadcasting purposes by media from all over the world.

Now that Denmark will host of the world's largest sports events, where 16 countries will compete for the distinction of being the best ice hockey nation in the world, logistics is bound to pose a challenge. Several logistics companies offered to take up the much-coveted job and thereby the designation of the Championships' official logistics partner, but the final choice has now fallen on DB Schenker – thanks to a long dialogue with their Sports Events specialist team, which has proven able to offer more than just solving a complicated logistics challenge.

Frederik Munk, COO of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, explains:

"DB Schenker was the exact right choice for us because they can offer an allround logistic solution comprising logistics for the participating countries, freight solutions to the arenas, storage as well as a combined media centre and tribune, the OB Compound, in Royal Arena. We are looking forward to taking advantage of DB Schenker's strength and gigantic global transportation network and consider them to be a perfect match for us."

DB Schenker Denmark are also looking forward to the new and exciting cooperation, and their CEO, Henrik Dam Larsen, is telling us the reasons why:

"When one of the largest sports events in the world is organised in Denmark, we naturally want to take part in and support it. Our goal is to provide a sublime experience of Denmark that can be shared onwards, when both the teams and their fans go back home. We are very proud and honoured of the vote of confidence we have been given and look forward to getting down to business as well as proving our Sports Events competence and specialisation. As part of a leading global transport group, we can take advantage of our global team's experience and expertise in order to thereby create the best solutions across individual countries.”
