Davis Cup by NEC World Group Qualifying Round Draw

The International Tennis Federation announced today the draw for the Davis Cup World Group Qualifying Round which will be played 14-16 July and 21-23 July. The winning nations in the World Group Qualifying Round will secure places in the 2001 Davis Cup by NEC World Group while the losers will compete in the Zonal Group I competitions. The World Group Qualifying Round will take place on the same weekends as the Davis Cup by NEC World Group Semifinals. The Davis Cup Committee will recommend to the ITF Board of Directors, meeting this weekend in Monte Carlo, a timetable for the Qualifying Round Ties. The Davis Cup Committee will recommend either the weekend of 14-16 July or 21-23 July for the various World Group Qualifying Round ties so as to prevent ties from clashing with an ATP Tour tournament in the specific countries involved in the draw. An announcement will be made on Monday 17 April 2000.
