Countdown to the UCI Track World Championships 2010 in Denmark

In only 20 days the first lap of this spectacular event in Ballerup Super Arena is taken.

The property owner is the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the event is scheduled in Ballerup Super Arena 24 – 28 March. With only 20 days to go before the hunt for medals is initiated in the newly sanded velodrome, the local organisers, The Danish Cycling Federation, has now entered the most hectic stage of them all.

Jesper Worre, main responsible for the event, says: ”The preparations are proceeding according to plans, but we do realize that, compared to the two World Cups we have previously staged, the UCI demands are higher now. But I am really looking forward to the event, especially the two big screens at each end of the venue”.

Throughout the world, the top class riders are confirming their participation in the UCI Track World Championships 2010 in Denmark these days . The four-double Olympic champion, Chris Hoy, is at the head of the very strong British team. Furthermore, the American rider, Taylor Phinney, last year’s men individual 4 km pursuit world champion has announced that he will check-in and so has the Australian rider, Jack Bobridge, who came very close to Chris Boardman’s men individual 4 km pursuit world record in January and is the U23 time trial world champion.

Also, the Danish partner race world champions from 2009 in Poland, Alex Rasmussen/Michael Mørkøv are preparing for their title defence in Ballerup by riding road race with Team Saxo Bank. To demonstrate his top form, Alex Rasmussen won the time trial in the Spannish Ruta del Sol lately.

The UCI Track World Championships 2010 in Denmark is part of Bike City Copenhagen, BCC, which HRH and newly elected IOC-member, Crown Prince Frederik is protector for.

Copenhagen is the only city in the world, which has by now been appointed as Bike City by the UCI and between 2008 and 2011, Copenhagen is host for 6 major international cycling events.

Beyond the above event, Denmark is among others hosting the prestigious World Road Championship 2011.
