Couchman Harrington Associates, the leading niche sports business law firm, whose clients include Wayne Rooney, Rugby World Cup and Nationwide, is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Head of Broadcasting and Media, Jon Higton.
Jon Higton is a senior sports lawyer, previously a partner with former sports firm Townleys and more recently a consultant with Hammonds. Jon has advised on and negotiated many significant UK and international broadcasting and other media rights contracts in sports/entertainment. These have included extensive involvement on Rugby World Cup TV contracts since 1991, the Davis Cup commercial programme and negotiating rights representation agreements for many major properties including FA Premier League, FA Cup, England and other internationals, World Cup Cricket and others.
Nic Couchman said that bringing Jon Higton on board was a strategic step for the firm: ‘Broadcasting and media rights are at the heart of the sports business. In an increasingly complex and fragmented media rights landscape, specialist TV rights lawyers add a lot of value to transactions. Couchman Harrington already has strength in sports television and media deals, but bringing Jon on board to spearhead the broadcasting team will add depth and enable us to provide a unique and highly experienced resource to our current and future clients’.
