PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (August 22) — A leading Korean construction firm has pledged its support for the PyeongChang 2014 Winter Olympic bid by making a donation to the campaign, joining several other major Korean companies already lending financial support.

Taeyoung Corporation President Byun Tak confirmed his company’s sponsorship of South Korea’s Winter Olympic bid effort on August 21, at a meeting with Jin-sun KIM, the governor of Gangwon Province and executive president of PyeongChang 2014.

Byun, who serves as president of the Korea Ski Association said, “PyeongChang’s hosting of the 2014 Winter Olympics is a common desire among Korea’s corporate community, and many domestic companies are seriously considering sponsorship.”

PyeongChang 2014 has to date attracted a number of major sponsors, including Shinhan Bank, one of the nation’s top lenders; Doosan liquor BG; the National Agriculture Cooperative Federation, and the Dongbu Group.

Jae-heung BAHNG , secretary general of PyeongChang 2014 said, “More broadcasting companies and corporations are showing their interest in participating in the bid, so we expect even more sponsors than we attracted for the 2010 bid.”
