Hamburg, 06.07.2004 – 51 national teams from around Europe will be entering the contest to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. And Continental AG will be part of the action as a partner for the ‘2006 Qualifiers’.

The European full-service sponsoring package developed by SPORTFIVE will ensure that Continental, one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers and automotive suppliers, gets a share of the limelight at 170 qualifying matches, in all 51 participating countries around Europe. This exclusive ‘2006 Qualifiers’ package converges the marketing rights of numerous European football associations under the one product roof.

Continental’s acquisition of this comprehensive sponsoring package nicely supplements its commitment as an official partner to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. Worldwide television coverage during the 15-month qualifying season means Continental will be assured of a broad international communications platform. The package merges classic panel advertising with an array of other promotional opportunities. Continental will have the option of presenting itself in the stadiums as part of the agenda of promotions and events centred around ten selected fixtures. The package is further rounded off by the rights to all the latest football media footage depicting the most exciting moments on the field. The Hanover-based corporation will be able to use this film material for its web platform, ‘ContiFanWorld’, and for its tradeshow and dealership promotions.

‘Our participation in these world championship qualifiers ideally complements our football- flavoured communications strategy. It facilitates our objective to position the campaigns we are running in connection with the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany early in the day and in an authentic fashion,’ explains Raf Claes, head of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany project at Continental AG. ‘The ‘2006 Qualifiers’ package is an ideal opportunity to display worldwide presence and to effectively position the Continental brand in all international markets – most notably those in Europe.’
