Indianapolis (March 10, 2004) – Spike TV is the new cable television home for the Champ Car World Series for the 2004 season, it was announced today jointly by Champ Car President Dick Eidswick and Kevin Kay, Executive Vice President, Programming and Production, Spike TV. The network will telecast the entire 16-race schedule of one of the most popular racing circuits from venues all over the world, from Long Beach, CA. to Seoul, South Korea.

Spike TV will carry all 16 of the 2004 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford races, kicking off with the season-opening Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Sunday, April 18 (4:00-6:00pm ET/PT) from Long Beach, CA.

Spike TV will also telecast 24 episodes of a Champ Car lifestyle-themed series as part of its successful automotive programming on Sunday afternoons.

‘Champ Car racing has a great fan base and the addition to our weekend lineup will broaden our scope with sports and racing fans.’ noted Kay. ‘This is an ideal partnership between two evolving brands looking to expand its audience base.’

The Spike TV partnership will give fans a consistent time slot in which to follow the Champ Car World Series, airing the races in a two-hour block from 4:00-6:00pm ET/PT on Sunday afternoons.

‘Our millions of fans nationwide will now have a network to call home to catch all the excitement of Champ Car World Series Racing,’ stated Eidswick. ‘This partnership will increase our television exposure and bring the thrilling racing of Champ Car to a whole new audience.’

The Spike TV broadcasts will be produced by Betelgeuse Productions and will feature veteran play-by-play man Bob Jenkins in the booth along with popular color analyst Tommy Kendall. Derek Daly will be the lead pit color analyst while Bronte Tagliani, wife of Rocketsports Racing driver Alex Tagliani, will serve as a roving reporter to capture the excitement and lifestyle aspects surrounding Champ Car events.
