The European Challenge Tour welcomes one of Europe’s leading providers of IT infrastructure services – Computacenter – onto the 2004 Schedule as title sponsors of the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open.
The Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open will be the third Challenge Tour event in the UK this season, following the JJB North West Challenge and the Ryder Cup Wales Challenge, taking place at Donnington Grove Country Club from October 14-17. It will be the penultimate event of the 2004 Challenge Tour season, which should make for some nervous, exciting moments as the players vie for a place in the top 45 on the Rankings to guarantee a place at the Bouygues Telecom Grand Final the following week.
Those top 45 players will then battle for the top 15 spots on the Rankings, all of which carry a golden ticket to the 2005 European Tour.
Computacenter – who will also sponsor the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open Pro-Am on Wednesday, October 13 – have come on board just at the right time, as the Challenge Tour season reaches its annual tension packed climax.
Mike Norris, Chief Executive of Hatfield based Computacenter, said: ‘Golf is a popular sport and past-time among our customers and staff, and this event enables us to thank them for their ongoing support and loyalty.’
Tom Cowgill, a Director of Sports Masters International – who are promoting the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open – was delighted to welcome Computacenter as title sponsor.
He said: ‘I congratulate Computacenter for their involvement in the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open. To find such a high quality sponsor is a great coup for the tournament and I’m sure that Mike Norris, his staff and customers will have a fantastic day on Wednesday, October 13 at their Pro-Am day, when they will have the chance to play alongside some of golf’s stars of the future.
‘You cannot fail to be impressed with the course and the beautiful surroundings at the Donnington Grove Country Club. It is a fabulous venue for a Challenge Tour event and with so much at stake at the end of the Challenge Tour season, the event is sure to produce some interesting results and memorable moments.’
Alain de Soultrait, Director of the European Challenge Tour, echoed those sentiments, adding: ‘The Challenge Tour is delighted to welcome Computacenter onto the 2004 Schedule – we hope that the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open produces the excitement that we have come to expect from the Challenge Tour players, and that our new relationship can continue into the future.’
