Berman Motorsport Group, organizers of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship, and Ansell Healthcare Canada, makers of the popular Shields brand condom, announced today that Shields will become an official sponsor of the 2001 Canadian Formula Ford Championship.

The Formula Ford Series is Canada’s only national professional open wheel racing series, with a proud history of developing the country’s best racing talents. Canada’s next generation of racing superstars take to the track when the series begins its 13th season at Mosport International Raceway on May 18-20, 2001.

‘We are delighted to welcome another new sponsor to the Formula Ford Series,’ said Eric Berman, general manager of the series. ‘Our events and audience represent the perfect demographic to help Ansell promote the Shields brand.’ Shields and Basi Autosport joins existing sponsors Hankook Tires, and Cardinal Watches.

‘The popularity of the series in Canada, the high profile race events and national TV exposure is what attracted us to the Formula Ford Series,’ explained Sam Vella, Sales and Marketing Manager for Ansell Healthcare Canada. ‘This racing property will allow us to gain exposure for our young adult product line in a previously untapped and growing market.’

Founded in 1905, Ansell Healthcare is a world leader in design, development, manufacture and marketing of protective gloves and condoms. The company boasts annual sales of over $1.3 billion in over 100 countries. Ansell is the world’s second largest manufacturer and marketer of condoms, with approximately 15% worldwide share. Multiple lines of condoms, including Shields, are produced by the company’s Personal Healthcare division. Ansell employs over 12,000 people worldwide, with its head office located in Red Bank, NJ.
