Berman Motorsport Group, series organizers of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship presented by Deringer, announced today that the series has come to an agreement with CTV Sportsnet and RDS networks that will bring Formula Ford racing excitement into the homes of millions of Canadians across the country.
The format of the programs will be a combination of full race broadcasts and magazine style shows, which would include some race highlights, plus features and interviews with drivers and teams. CTV Sportsnet and RDS will air five original 30 minute programs plus repeats, in English and French, respectively. The broadcasts are set to begin in early September of 2001. Additional race broadcasts, including live events, are also being discussed and details will follow shortly.
‘This is great news for the series,’ said Eric Berman, series General Manager. ‘It’s been something we’ve been working towards for a while. Thanks to our new sponsors we were able to secure a national, bilingual TV package that will showcase our teams and talented young drivers for millions of Canadian viewers.’
New sponsors include Deringer custom brokers and freight forwarders, Shields Condoms, Autosport BASI racing school, who join returning sponsors Ford of Canada, Hankook Tires, and Cardinal Watches.
‘This is a very exciting race series that viewers will really enjoy,’ Berman continued, ‘National television will certainly build a bigger fan base for the series and help our drivers gain recognition as they follow in the footsteps of past Canadian Formula Ford graduates, like Paul Tracy and Alex Tagliani.’
A complete broadcast schedule will be announced shortly. For more information on Canada’s most popular open-wheel championship, visit the Canadian Formula Ford Championship web site at http://www.formulaford1600.com.
