Sportev and iSTRAT, have signed an exclusive agreement for the development and distribution of its Micro pay-per-view (mPPV) solutions for broadband sports channels. mPPV will enable sports organisations to provide more advanced content, both realtime and recorded to its customers using micro payments. Organisations have previously been unable to implement a micro payment facility due to the lack of a viable solution.
The agreement between Sportev and iSTRAT will run for an initial twelve-month period with Sportev managing secure content distribution through its Sportev Asset Management System (SAMS), and iSTRAT providing the billing technology to implement mPPV.
Will Muirhead, CEO Sportev, says: ‘mPPV provides the perfect payment mechanism for broadband sports programming. There is a real requirement for a system that enables both small and large payments. Our partnership with iSTRAT has ensured this becomes a reality for the sports industry.’
Paul Hague, iSTRAT CEO, says: ‘The need for revenue generation from premium content within the sports marketplace is high. With such large volumes of traffic going to sport websites alongside technology maturity, sports rights holders have a unique opportunity to make their digital assets generate money.’
The mPPV solution provides a multi payment environment that can be adapted to both web and wireless broadband channels. It will allow content to be priced on a per view basis either one off or time constrained to ensure the right pricing structure is associated with the appropriate content.
