THE BRITISH Olympic Association’s improved and upgraded website has gone on line, featuring exciting graphics, new material and a user-friendly navigation system. The website is at http://www.olympics.org.uk.
Simon Clegg, the BOA’s Chief Executive, commented: ‘The new website continues the BOA’s post-Sydney programme of communication. The internet provides the BOA with a tool to reach a wide cross section of the British public, whilst keeping those involved in elite sport up- to- date with innovations and initiatives within the BOA. There is something on this site for everyone, from primary schoolchildren to Olympic medallists,s and the navigation system provides an easy route to information for all users.’
The site boasts sections for students, teachers, athletes, media and Olympic fans. Anyone can register for Olympic News Alerts ahead of the Salt Lake City Winter Games to keep right up-to-date with what’s happening in the British Olympic Movement and all 35 Olympic sports.
The site maintains many of its previous sections such as a history of the Olympic Movement and an outline of all 35 Olympic sports. These areas have also been developed to give detailed background information and technical data.
INFORMATION ON past and future Olympic Games, as well as the European Youth Olympic Days (an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event), can be accessed. In-depth information about Team GB, past British medal winners, the BOA and its Olympic Medical Centre (BOMC) is available, plus links to the websites of the 35 National national Governing governing Bodies bodies of Olympic sports.
Other features include ticket information for future Games, current vacancies within the BOA and the BOMC, a comprehensive media section plus an online version of the BOA’s monthly Olympic Sporting Update.
