British Eurosport has announced its live broadcasting plans for UEFA EURO 2004 in Portugal with over 200 hours of coverage of this summer’s main event. From 12 June to 5 July, the channel will be showing every game including 14 live matches, consisting of ten group games, two quarter-finals, one semi-final and the final.
Having build up over ten years of experience covering European domestic and international competitions such as France’s Ligue 1, Italy’s Serie A, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, UEFA Youth Championships and UEFA Euro 2000, British Eurosport will use all its expertise and connections to provide fans of European football with their ideal home for the Championship.
In this regard, the popular James Richardson will be presenting a large number of the games from the British Eurosport studio. His extensive knowledge of the continental football scene makes him the perfect host for coverage with a distinctly European slant.
Pierre-Jean Sebert, Managing Director of British Eurosport, added: ‘Euro 2004 is an exciting prospect for us and while the terrestrial channels will be concentrating on England’s progress, we’ll be aiming to use our European pedigree and experience to provide a wider focus. With James Richardson presenting our interactive studios, we also hope that British Eurosport will become a genuine forum for opinions and ideas, and will encourage our viewers to pick up their phone or get on the PC and really participate this summer.’
Euro 2004 is another component of a great year of live sport on British Eurosport, three Grand Slam Tennis tournaments, the Tour de France and 24 hour-a-day live coverage of the Olympic Games in Athens to follow later in the summer.
