British Airways has today been named as the official airline of the Scotland international rugby team.

The airline has signed a three-year partnership with Scottish Rugby to fly the international team and will work closely with the SRU to determine the best flying times to away matches for the full international squad.

The team will enjoy British Airways’ superior products including the fully flat Club World beds, allowing them to sleep or relax as they choose, ensuring that they arrive at their destination fully rested for matches.

Marin George, commercial director said: ‘We are delighted to have struck this partnership with Scottish Rugby. We carried the squad to the last Rugby World Cup and this extended deal with the SRU to carry the Scotland international rugby squad builds on that relationship.’

SRU Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan said: ‘Player welfare is an issue we take very seriously. Travel can be a laborious and stressful business but knowing that British Airways, with their excellent service and support, will be looking after the air travel needs of the Scotland team is a major boon.’

David James, Scottish Rugby’s Head of Commercial, said: ‘This is an exciting and innovative new partnership sure to benefit the Scotland team. We look forward to working with BA over the next three years.’

The partnership will be promoted through the airline’s website www.ba.com where customers can take part in competitions to win tickets to major international matches and other promotions.
