The Irish Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce that Brian O’Brien has been appointed as Manager of the Irish senior team to the end of season 2000 – 2001. A former Irish international center, capped against France, England and Scotland in 1967-68, Brian O’Brien is the current Manager of Heineken European Cup semi-finalists Munster. A member of Shannon R.F.C. since 1955, he has been involved with the Limerick Club ever since as player, coach and Manager and as Club President in 1984, 85 and 86. He is a former Munster, Ireland and Lions selector and was Manager of the Ireland under 21 team in 1992, 93 and 94. He says: “I am absolutely delighted to be named as Manager of the Irish team.
