Lausanne, Switzerland, June 15, 2015 – The International Volleyball Federation has launched the bidding process for the 2017 edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. The new bidding process has been set up as part of the FIVB's ongoing commitment to promote innovation, transparency and good governance.

The purpose of this process is to select the best country or city to host the event. The successful bidder will be selected based on a range of criteria, including a focus on financial guarantees, converging values and demonstrable experience organising events of this scale. The Hosting Requirements document has been sent out to the 221 national federations which are members of the FIVB.

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship The Netherlands 2015 will take place from June 26 through to July 5 in the Dutch cities of The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam. Staged every two years, the competition will feature a total of 96 teams – 48 per gender – with the qualification process completed through the FIVB National Federation Entry Ranking and Continental Tours.
 
Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen made history when they became the first Dutch pair to win gold in the men’s competition at the 2013 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships which took place in Stare Jablonki, Poland. China’s Chen Xue and Zhang Xi lived up to their billing as the tournament favourites when they topped the podium in the women’s competition.
