The Cheltenham Festival is over for another year, but there’s no time to get the blues because the world’s biggest race is just around the corner! You can join in the thrill of the Martell Cognac Grand National by organizing your own sweepstake with friends or colleagues – and it couldn’t be easier than using the kit available at www.britishhorseracing.com.

Betting against your friends in a sweepstake is enormous fun and tens of thousands of people up and down the country get involved every year. The British Horseracing Board’s sweepstake is the best in the business, especially because it is available before any others – at 10.30am on Thursday, 1 April.

The Martell Cognac Grand National takes place on Saturday April 3, just a couple of weeks after Best Mate won the nation’s heart with his incredible third victory in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup. But it won’t be long before another great horse makes history in National – so make sure you have a chance of picking the winner!

The sweepstake isn’t the only way to get involved in the National. If you think you are up to the challenge of completing the intimidating course at Aintree without mishap, you can log onto the website to test your ability by playing the BHB’s Grand National game. It may not be as physically challenging as the real thing, but it still requires skill to get round safely. Be warned – if you fall at the water jump you will end up getting more than a little soaking!

However, if you do manage to get round safely and then forward the game to two friends, you’ll be automatically entered into a free prize draw for some slap-up hospitality at the famous Vodafone Derby in June. That’s got to be worth a shot!

The Grand National sweepstake and the game are both live at www.britishhorseracing.com. The site also offers all sorts of information about horseracing including online booking for any racemeetings at Britain’s 59 racecourses.
